Getting here and around

Adelaide’s size, grid design and proximity to the airport makes for more convenient and more enjoyable events. Adelaide Airport is a quick 15-minute drive into from city centre, providing you with an easy travel experience. 

If you’re flying to Adelaide from interstate or overseas, enjoy the convenience of arriving at your hotel minutes after you leave the airport. As a walkable city, you have little need for transportation once you’ve arrived – all destinations can be reached easily on-foot, or take advantage of Adelaide’s extensive public transport network, including free tram travel within the city centre.

 

From the airport

Adelaide Airport is located just seven kilometres from the city centre, and services direct national and international flights daily. Adelaide welcomes over 600 national flights per week from all major cities and regional centres around Australia. Globally, Adelaide has direct one-stop connections to more than 300 destinations.

Public Transport

Adelaide has an extensive public transport system of buses, trains and trams, operated by Adelaide Metro. The tram is free to travel on within the city centre, with the closest tram stop conveniently located a two-minute walk from the Centre, in front of the historic Adelaide Railway Station.

Taxi, Ridesharing and Car Hire

If you’re planning to spend your stay in the city, you’ll best experience Adelaide walking or booking short car rides. Taxis can be booked for pick-up or drop-off at Adelaide Convention Centre, with a taxi rank located right in front of the Centre’s main entrance off North Terrace.

Accessible event for all

Adelaide Convention Centre is an accessible venue to all visitors. They offer lift and escalator access to all three levels, including entry from North Terrace and the Adelaide Riverbank Promenade. You can request assistance from Adelaide Convention Canter’s Floor Ambassadors by contacting us prior to the Congress for convenience or upon arrival. 
 
  • Car parking: There are designated accessible parking spaces located on each level of Adelaide Convention Centre’s North Terrace and Riverbank carparks, enabling you to enter the Centre conveniently and without hassle. Special consideration to reduce distance of travel and cope with large volumes of traffic for disabled passengers unloading can be made by contacting us prior to the Congress.
  • Wheelchair access: Convenient wheelchair access is available via lifts accessing all levels. Stage ramping, portable wheelchair lifts and additional wheelchairs can all be arranged. Accessible toilets are located across all three levels. 
  • Sensory impairment: The Centre is fitted out with digital and braille signage along with an audible PA system, to guide sensory impaired guests around the venue. Braille signage can be arranged in the event space, and hearing augmentation systems are also available upon request. An audible PA system is installed throughout the centre and used in the event of an emergency.
  • Service animals: The Adelaide Convention Centre allows service animals inside the venue, at the owner’s responsibility. Please reach out prior to the event if you have specific questions or concerns. 
 

Additional amenities

  • First Aid facilities: Adelaide Convention Centre has qualified first aid staff readily available and is fitted out with onsite First Aid facilities, including defibrillators in case of a medical emergency. 
  • Private rooms: Adelaide Convention Centre offers accessible, purpose-built rooms for mothers and caregivers. These rooms are available for feeding, changing and privacy during events, and are recognised by the Australian Breastfeeding Association. Private prayer rooms are also available upon request. 
  • Coat check & storage: For added convenience, you have complimentary access to a coat check and luggage storage, available at the main reception. 
  • Charging stations: Find plenty of conveniently located charging stations for laptops and mobile phones around the venue. 
  • Cashless payments: Adelaide Convention Centre is a cashless venue. All onsite charges including parking, food, beverages and event purchases, must be made by card or mobile pay.
